What is your background, i.e. are you new to aquatics or have you been involved for a number of years?

I have worked as a coach at Star Diving Club for a number of years.

 

If you are already working in aquatics, what do you enjoy about being a teacher or coach?

I love being able to help divers challenge themselves and learn new things.

 

What were your reasons for attending the course?

Personal development.

 

What did you find most interesting about the course?

Everything.  I learned so much about the technical aspects of dives and the tutor was fantastic.

 

What part of the course was most beneficial to you?

Learning from such an experienced tutor and getting ideas and knowledge from other candidates on the course.

 

How will being on the course help you achieve your goals?

Completing my Level 2 will help me be a better coach.  Bring on Level 3!

 

Has anything you have learned changed the way you work?

I learned so much that will affect my coaching, especially building progressions.  Some of my divers are going to have to go back a skill or two once summer holidays are over, as I now know why they have been struggling with some of the harder skills.

 

What advice would you give to those considering a UKCC course?

Take on board as much as you can and always ask questions.
